Awakening Ritual: I am the Light

“I Am a Divine Action of God, of Goddess. Here and now. And I Am Good.”
To get started, here’s what you’ll need:
• A mirror.
• Enough light to gaze into your own eyes.
• A little bit of privacy.
Even ten minutes is great. 20-25 is ideal.
1. Stand or sit in front of a mirror and look deeply into your own eyes. Gaze at them. One, then the other. Slightly in the middle (third eye) that you can see both clearly. Relax your body and just gaze into your eyes.
If you have the privilege of privacy and can lay out some candles and gaze in a looking glass, excellent! If you have only ten minutes before you have to get the little ones to school, that is perfect too. Be content with what you have and strive to set aside more time to practice as you can.
2. Gently focus on your breathing, and as you breathe in and out, start to slow your breathing. Lengthen your breathing for three counts in and then four counts out, four counts in, and then five or six counts out. Soften your jaw, relax your 15 tongue, and release your shoulders down as you continue to gaze into your eyes and breathe slow and easy.
3. Continue to focus your attention entirely on your own image. As thoughts float in, allow them to float right on out. Don’t worry; I’m sure they won’t go far. You can think about the work you have to do or the dinner you need to make later. For now, focus on the point just between and above your eyes so you can gently apply pressure to the pineal gland. Soften your gaze a bit more and fall into the eternity that lies behind those magnificent eyes of yours.
4. Stay present and grounded by your own image. Breathe with yourself for a long time like this.
5. Soften your eyes a bit more and become very aware of your heart. You can place a hand over your heart even. See if you can feel your heartbeat through your body. Keep gazing into your eyes and relax the tongue once more. Feel the big feels here; feel love for yourself. Feel gratitude for yourself. Feel gratitude for your life, whatever it looks like here and now. If you can’t find those feelings, feel love for your puppy or your kitten or whatever you adore and flood your body with that emotion and gratitude.
6. When you feel ready and are in a happy, elevated state, recite the following aloud to yourself (if you can without scaring people in the next room). Recite it a million times ideally— three times minimum.
“I Am a Divine Action of God(dess). Here and now. And I am Good. I am Kind. I am Enough. I am healthy and vibrant and open to the magic of the highest Love in my life. I am free.”
7. When you are ready to complete this space, whisper thanks to yourself. Maybe give yourself a little bow in the mirror. You certainly deserve the honor. Whisper thanksgiving to the Divinity that you presenced before you began. Give another bow to This Beingness you called upon. Then start to come back into your body. Move your hands up your opposite arms and feel yourself under your touch.
Note your grounding chord and give it a warm thank you. Start to think about the things that make you the happiest. Ignore the world, if you can, for another 20 minutes while you integrate this incredibly powerful and phenomenally deep exercise. Dance. Laugh. Write about dreams that make you happy in your journal. Whatever brings you peace – enjoy it for a spell. Need a quick pick-me-up after a particularly human day? Use an abbreviated version of The Magic Mirror above as a quick daily practice and certainly anytime you need to reconnect with this Higher Power that you are real quick.
When you aren’t near a mirror and want to engage your Higher Self, flutter your eyes closed and gaze gently at your third eye while you run through the practice. And if all you can give it in any particular moment is just One breath, it is perfect. Go for it. Every conscious breath counts. magic breathwork Bring the breath deep into your body, grounding it in the stomach and pushing the solar plexus. Relax your shoulders.
Once you get the hang of this, your shoulders shouldn’t rise with your breathing. The breath lives in the belly. Relax your jaw and tongue. Soften everything, and maybe your body will bless you with a released sigh or a yawn. Not only does the sigh feel incredible, but it signals that your body has attuned the nervous system to the intent.
You're slipping into a more relaxed state that opens to higher awareness, and your body and brain are starting to harmonize with the breath and the spirit. As you release the breath out, gently allow each breath out to be twice as long as the breath in and start to—pause— between each.
Eventually, focus your breath to breathe four beats in. Four beats hold. Four beats out. Four beats hold. Then, as you go deeper into your altered brainwaves, allow the exhalations to 18 last as long as you can comfortably. An example of what that could look like… Four counts in. Three counts hold. Six counts out. Three counts hold. Four counts in. Four counts hold. Seven counts out. Four counts hold. Six counts in. Five counts hold. Eight counts out. Five counts hold. Play with it a little bit. You are not trying to ‘hit a goal’ here. You are learning to use the breath and letting the breath move and work inside you consciously. Go on and try it. I’ll hold. Now soften your eyes, relax your shoulders some more, and become aware of how you’re feeling at this moment.
Notice any tension in your physical body, and let’s soften and release it deeper. Ground yourself deeply to the Earth and ground yourself more in the present moment by pulling everything you feel to the center of the body. Take the tension and everything that doesn’t serve you and gather it all up to move it up the center; up, up, up, and out the top of your head, releasing it to fall behind you, like a flowy bridal veil back to the Earth.
Release it to the beautiful ground full of rich, lush grass. Now feel the Light and Goodness of Source Energy as the brightest White Light and 19 release it from the center of your heart out to every cell in your body. Drench yourself in white light.
“I Am a Divine Action of God, of Goddess. Here and now. And I am so Good. My life is simple and easy, and I Am So Happy.”

Don’t worry if it feels a little like a lie. You might be going through horrific trauma right now and aren’t feeling it. Th e purpose of this ritual is to communicate well beyond the subconscious programming running the show. Give it the direction that you want to go. You’re telling your brain that even if you don’t feel it, you acknowledge who you are and what you expect. It might take some time to make this feel true, which is perfectly okay. When you feel, you become. For now, you’re welcoming a new sheriff to town.

As you bring this and any ritual to a close, always focus your attention on things that make you happy and give gratitude. Gently steer your thoughts to your goals and desires. Give the drama of today’s news or the need to pay the bills at least 20 minutes on pause. Your subconscious is still listening. Feed it healthy thoughts to integrate this priceless ritual and direct the Universe to what it is you wish fo
